How to fix Nikon D70 error?

I just got this error in my Nikon, I accidentally dropped it and if my parents find out, they would be upset, I don't want to repair it, I want to try to fix it. Is there any way I can fix it? I don't know if it's the lens or the camera. I've been worried about this.

Give it a shake and listen for rattling, if you don't hear anything rattling about inside hold it firmly and give it a few slaps, slap the top, both sides and the base, do the battery thing (take it out and slide it back in after 5 minutes or so), if It doesn't come back to life then take it to a camera store, they'll do all the stuff i've told you and then they'll ask you if you want it sent off to get an estimate of repair, you'd probably be better picking up a replacement from ebay.

Take the SD card out and reinsert it.

Now you know why cameras come with a wrist strap! This is one reason why I don't allow incompetents to use my valuable items.

You need to find out what the error is and determine whether it is actually worth getting the camera fixed. Just tell your parents what happened and deal with the consequences later. They are bound to find out sooner rather than later.

Try resetting the lens.

First, make sure the battery is fully charged. Set the camera to Auto mode and go out under the sun. Make sure exposure compensation (lightmeter) is at zero. Take a picture of a brightly colored car from about 10 feet. If the picture didn't come out fine, your camera will need to go to the repair shop and get fixed by someone who knows exactly what he is doing. You will also need the help of your parents on this so tell them now at once.

Your camera came with a neck strap. Use that religiously.
