How's your new nikon d3100?

Guys who bought the new nikon d3100 please, please, please, put your personal reviews here. I'd really appreciate your comments. I just eyed this sweet thing a few weeks ago and it looks like a very good dslr for a newbie like me. Suggestions on other brands and/or models will also be very much appreciated.

I didn't buy it but had an opportunity to test it. Well, for a beginner it is more than perfect. Quality is awesome.

So, if still image is your priority, it is unbeatable in every aspect of an image. But, if you want to use for video, it has again an awesome result. But, not having MIC input, sound is not under control at all.

As I'm a student of Film & Media, for tight budget I had to choose Canon 550D (rebel T2i) because of I will have to make some documentary with this where sound taking is a serious issue especially taking speech. Both video and still image is great. If I was not bound to option of taking sound I would have chosen D3100 for sure with savings. With that I could buy extra battery, memory and even flash or good lens.
