How much does it cost to fix nikon d5000?
I dropped my nikon d5000 and thankfully my lens is ok but the camera has a white screen and it doesn't turn on at all. How much do you think it would cost to repair this? Can it be fixed in places like Best Buy or should I send it to Nikon?
No matter how much the damage is but send it only to the official Nikon service center. They will ensure that they repair your camera well. Don't give it to roadside repair shops, they may spoil your camera.
And if you are still under the warranty, nikon will do it for free. But in your case, its an accident so they many not repair for free. They will charge a fair amount, don't worry.
In the back of the Owner's Manual for your camera there should be a list of Nikon Authorized Service Centers with addresses and phone numbers. Choose the one closest to you and call and ask for an estimate of how much the repairs will cost you. No manufacturer's warranty covers repairs for damage caused by abuse such as dropping the camera or getting it wet. All costs will be paid by you.
In the future, always keep your camera safe by hanging it around your neck with the neck strap. In 40 years I've never dropped a camera because its either hanging from the strap or securely mounted on my tripod or stored in my camera bag.
I recently sent my Nikon D90 to Nikon for cleaning, adjustment, and to get a stuck pixel mapped out.
$212.98
I don't know if your repair will be much more. It probably won't be less.
