How much can I sell this used camera for?

I have a Nikon d3100 with kit lens. Have had it for 3 years. No scratches, looks very new and clean because I barely used it.

Altogether, the camera along with the lens, it would sell for a retail price of about $900. However, based on for how long you've had it and how good shape you say it is in, I'd say for about $400-$600.

It looks like they go for about $200 to $300 on eBay. You would get less selling it to a store that will resell it.

The figures above seem accurate. However, if you don't use it because you're looking for a different camera, you could also consider trading in it for a different model. Some stores will do a part-exchange program.

If you're just looking to sell it, then a private sale or online sale (like ebay, etc) will, like the previous poster said, probably fetch a better price than taking it to a store.

The catch with selling on Ebay are the stinking fees they charge you after the sell. Then on top of that, you will be charged a fee from Pay Pal. Then to add salt to the wound, if you want an actual check from Pay Pal, they charge you a fee for that. The higher the cost of an item you sell, the higher the fees go. Sometimes your best bet is to use a store such as KEH to buy your gear outright. While the price may look lower than what you see on Ebay, at least it is a fast, easy transaction and they send you a real check quickly. KEH has an online quote service where you can look up your gear and get an estimate of what they will pay for it. After all is said and done, the upfront price you get from KEH can be near as much as what you can sell it for after Ebay and Pay Pal take their ransom money from you.

$300-400 on eBay - probably about $350. Off of that, you would have to deduct the 10% cut eBay takes (plus the fees for any added features, like a reserve price), PayPal's 2.9% fee, and about $15 to ship it w/ insurance and signature confirmation if you use eBay's discounted shipping (more if you pay at the post office or UPS or FedEx).

If you get an average amount for it, you would be left with about $270-290 in profit. If you can get a better offer from a camera store, then go for it. I sell a lot on eBay simply because there's not a better way to reach a large market. Even after the fees, I have a hard time equaling what i get on eBay from sites like CraigsList.
