How to make Nikon D80 to autofocus with my new Nikon 50 mm f 1.8 D?
I just bought a Nikon 50 mm f 1.8/D lense but I can't get it to focus on my Nikon D80 even though I have set my camera to autofocus mode. Can someone please help me?
If I were you I'd take a serious look at the lens owner's manual first. Are the two talking to each other,
this could be the reason. If they can't talk, the lens won't work.
This should work on your D80 without any problem.
Be sure the switch under the lens release button is set to AF mode. If it's set to M, the camera won't autofocus.
Be sure the lens is locked in place. When you install the lens, be sure you hear a click when you rotate the mount. The focus drive mechanism needs to line up properly as well as the electrical contacts.
Your camera or lens may have problems. If you have another AF lens, try this out. If you know someone with a Nikon body (not D40, D60, D3000, or D5000), you can try this lens on their body.
