I took pictures in RAW format with my camera just to experiment. Now when I try to view them on my computer, they don't show. How do I convert them to able to view them. I have Nikon D3100 and am using Windows 7

You have to have software that can few Camera RAW, like Adobe Photoshop.

You have two choices… Maybe three

1) download the free RAW to DNG conversion program from Adobe, convert the RAW files and then process the DNG files and save them as JPEG, TIFF or other file type.
2) use the program that came with your camera to process the RAW files and save them as JPEG files
3) use a program like Photoshop or Lightroom to process the RAW files and save them as the file type you want.

I use Lightroom 3.3 to process all my RAW files. I can batch process them all based upon the custom white balance for each group of images.

This is how a custom white balance is established for each different lighting situation.
