Help on lenses for Nikon D90 please

I'm so confused. There are So many glass options out there and I wish I could afford to buy 2 or 3 lenses, but I can't. I don't want to spend more than $1000. I love landscapes, macros, and would like some telephoto (at least 200mm). I really would like one lens (as I'm really tired of changing from my 18-55 mm VR to 55-200 mm lenses). It also needs to be light (less than 13 oz). I did own the Nikon 18-200mm vr lens, but it's just too heavy to lug around. I would settle for the best and lightest all purpose lens and then maybe a good macro/micro (been looking at the Sigma 150mm). Any suggestions would help.

Nicole: bad news---it is beyond our present understanding of physics to be able to design a lens that meets all of those categories. You already had THE best all in one lens made for any brand (the 18-200 VR).

If you want my personal opinion--the most versatile and best kit you could get for $1000 would be the Nikon 70-300 VR ($550) and the tamron 17-50 f2.8 ($450) at Amazon. There are plenty of professional travel photographers shooting these exact lenses (because of their relative light weight). These two lenses will give you the sharpest, fastest, and greatest capability per ounce. Neither of these are dedicated macro lenses.

If Macro is your priority, I would look at the Nikon 60mm f2.8 AFS or the Tarmon 90mm ($500)--I personally would go for the Tarmon for the longer working distance (i.e. You don't have to be RIGHT up next to a flower or bug). For the best all purpose travel lens, that is the Nikon 16-85, but adding this puts you over your budget, and it doesn't reach out to 200mm.

If you need something lighter, you're going to have to leave DSLR's and look at micro 4/3 cameras, most notably the Panasonic G2, GH2, GF1 or Olympus EPL2. These cameras are much lighter and more compact, but come at an extra expense in the lenses. Plus, the results (to the really picky user) are not as nice as the Nikon you already have.
