HDR on nikon d3100 dslr?
Will a software update bring HDR feature on d3100?
Added (1). Thanks
I don't know what the fascination is to have all dSLR's do magic things with just the push of a button, but the D3100 is perfectly capable of exposing two to seven images exposed to facilitate producing a good HDR image. You just have to take control and do the necessary work yourself, one exposure at a time. Magically, you will have much more control over your exposures, thus producing much better quality HDR images
What you are asking is if the D3100 has a "firmware" update (not a software update).
Most definitely not.
As fhotoace said, you get much better results anyway if you do the HDRs in post processing on your computer, not in the camera.
And secondly, the D3100 is a lower entry level camera, and Nikon intentionally deprived it of some even quite basic features such as support for infrared remotes and ISO display in the viewfinder, to make people buy the higher tier cameras. Given this policy, it is highly unlikely that Nikon would introduce any such features to this camera. They don't even exist for the higher tier D5100 and D7000, and if Nikon develops it, then they'll probably restrict it to those two or even make it exclusively for the D7000.
Actually the D5100 does in-camera HDR. First Nikon DSLR to do so. But it is only a two-photo HDR, so perhaps it's more "HDR-like".
But lacking that feature, HDRs are not hard to do by simply adjusting the exposure for subsequent shots as described above.
Of course, with this technique you will still need a HDR software on your computer to make the photo - but you have full flexibility in doing so.
