I was reading blogs about it but it seems too good to be true that a nikon d90 can be bid for $90.

Because it is an auction site, you can BID on the Nikon for $90 but that doesn't mean you'll win it for $90. I guess its worth a try, but if the price gets to a certain amount you'd pay elsewhere then it may not be worthwhile.

But who knows. It's possible to snag some good deals there I've heard, too!

Don't be fooled by the adds. Yes, sometimes there are good deals to be had. What you need to know is that in order to bid on one of those "good deals", you have to buy the bids. You pay for each bid you want to submit. If you buy a bid and submit it and then don't win the item, you just lost the money you spent on the bid. You could pay $50 for an item and spend another $50 on bids in order to do it. You should be very careful with this kind of auction environment.

Being able to legally advertise the low prices the luck rare winner gets to pay may be the biggest benefit from setting up their alternate reality where only winners and no losers are mentioned.

These penny auction sites have been compared to gambling casinos, the house actually rakes in more than the retail price of the item sold, despite the ridiculously low selling prices in the ads the suck in the customers, there are the occasional winner, but for every winner there are several losers. Some player have pointed out you can make something of your bid commitment using some buy now option.

If you like the excitement of putting some money at risk, perhaps their $60 signup fee is safer than doing online poker.

Quibids appears to be the largest of the penny auctions, by responding to customer complaints, most of which are about the $60 signup fee being overlooked, they manage to maintain a BBB A- rating
