Good slr non-afs doesn't need video?

I've had a d3000 and d3100 up to this point, having hd video with the d3100 was cool, but I'm getting tired of using expensive AF-S lenses for day-to-day shooting. I'm most likely getting a GoPro so having HD video is not a big deal to me. I want a super decent nikon that has internal autofocus controls and whatnot so I can get whatever lens I want and just use it. I was looking at the d90 because my budget is right around $600. I don't want anything with lame specs either. Thanks for the help. I will be keeping my 35mm 1.8 AF-S prime since it is a great lens for what I paid.

The D90 will do what you want although, as you may know, the newer AF-S lenses are the fastest auto-focusing lenses made by Nikon and eventually All auto focus NIkkor lenses will be AF-S.

I don't know why you would get "tired" of using AF-S lenses, since they auto-focus faster than other Nikkor AF lenses.

I just did an inventory of my lenses and except for the legacy manual focus lenses I have, all are AF-S lenses

A note on GoPro cameras: They are excellent for their intended purpose, shoot POV video when racing your motorcycle, BMX bike, skiing or skateboarding, but are NOT the video camera you would use to shoot scripted video.
