Good camera lens from Nikon?

I have a Nikon D5000 and I was wondering what a good landscape lens would be for under $400

Unfortunately, there are no wide angle lenses wider than your 18-55 mm lens that costs under $400

If you save your pennies longer, you can buy the super wide angle zoom Nikkor AF-S 10-24 mm lens

Here is a sample land/seascape shot with the Nikkor 12-24 mm (a little more expensive than the 10-24 mm) using an older Nikon D100 with 6 mp sensor

The short end of your 18-55mm is superb for landscapes - learn to use it.

Nikon make a number of superlative lenses, but they aren't cheap.

Nikon's other landscape lenses cost more than that. You will have to live with your 18-55 kit lens for landscapes. And it's still a good choice for landscapes.

The Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 is available in Nikon mount but is a little over your budget new
