Getting pictures from DSLR developed?

Whenever I go get my pictures that I took with my Nikon D3000 at Walgreens, the colors always come out a lot darker and saturated. Why is that? And how can I prevent that?

Some of the consumer photo labs automatically color-correct photos when they print them. I know Walgreens, Wal-mart, and CVS all do it. So does Snapfish. Pretty much the only way you can get around it is to have your photos printed at a professional lab like WHCC, Bayphoto, or Mpix and specify with the order that you do not want your prints to be color corrected.

The most likely problem is that your computer monitor is not calibrated. You have probably noticed that images look a bit different on different uncalibrated monitors. The same holds true when a photo processed using an uncalibrated monitor is then printed using calibrated equipment.
