Nikon SLR Cameras

First DSLR camera and just want some advice?

To Avoid Damage
To Avoid Damage

I'm currently looking at the Canon 550D and the Nikon D3100
The Nikon is a lot cheaper than the Canon and is a very good camera for the price.
Gonna use the camera mainly for Bmx photos and other action photos but mainly Bmx
I would really like to take some videos and want to make short 10 min edits.
The Canon has 30fps at 1080p and 60 fps at 720p were the Nikon only has 24 fps at 1080p and 30fps at 720p. Is it worth it to wait until I get more money to buy the Canon 550D.

Btw looking for the single lens kit because don't have enough money for the duel lens kit.

Please just tell me if its worth it to save a few months more and buy the Canon 550D?
If you know of a nice editing program would you name me a few please.

The D3100 is lighter, cheaper, has same noise performance and image quality and auto focus while recording videos (T2i doesn't have it).

So I'd get the D3100, from Amazon.
