DSLR lenses for beginners?
I just got a DSLR for Christmas. Also, i got $75 in amazon gift cards. I was thinking I could buy a lens for my camera? My budget is around $100. What type of lens should I buy that is also good for beginners? I use a Nikon D5100.
I would look around on Amazon.com, they've got some great deals.
First, you don't have enough money.
Second ask yourself what kind of photography do you want to do? Different lenses are good for different types of shots but not all shots.
For now, since you're new to dslr photography, use your 18-55. Learn the camera and lens inside out
so you can operate both very quickly - that is, walk on a shooting situation and set the camera up for that particular situation. Until you can do that you don't need other lenses - you need learning and skill.
Stick with the 18-55 kit lens until you have got the hang of your new camera.
Meantime keep saving. By the time you have saved enough you will know what lens you NEED.
