I have always wanted a Nikon D90 ever since they first arrived on the market, now that I have saved, I want to get the best camera I can. I was looking at the Nikon D7000 and the Canon EOS 60D. The Nikon comes with a 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G ED-IF AF-S VR Telephoto Lens and an 18-105mm lens. The Canon has a 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM Telephoto Zoom Lens and a 28-135mm IS f/3.5-5.6 lens. I'm clueless when it comes to lenses. I know Nikon and Canon are both great brands, it mainly comes down to preference, but which of these are the most likely to produce High quality images that will be used in a semi-professional setting?

I have the canon rebel T2i and it's an amazingly awesome camera but it's used for actual photography, but I'd go with canon over nikon

Both can produce high quality images.

How well your images turn out have all to do with your skills as a photographer

The D7000 is one of two dSLR's that can auto-focus while in the video mode.

Here is what the camera can do when used as a video camera

I have both the Rebel XS and the eos t1i and both are excellent. The t1i does HD video that's very crisp and color rich. But you're correct, good glass is essential to technical quality.

Actually the t1i works excellently for pro or semi pro work. I use it for both. I'm semi-retired but still do some professional work here and there and both the XS and the t1i work very well. I do some web site design and photography and find either camera does excellent work.
