Downloading pics from a Nikon D3000 digital camera?

Actually, I know how to download pics onto my computer already. That's easy. The package I bought from a New York firm also had a 2mg flash or thumb drive. I'm going on a European/Scandavia Cruise on Monday and I would like to know HOW, somehow, someway to get the pics off the camera onto the flash drive WITHOUT, repeat WITHOUT using a computer. I want to double store my valuable pics on both my camera and the thumb drive. Is this possible and if so, HOW do I do it? Many thanks for a concise answer that ANSWERS my question. Remember, NO COMPUTER can be involved.

I don't know about the flash drive part
but you could copy the pictures to your sd

You can't.

Why on earth would you go on a cruise, expect to take a lot of photos and NOT take your computer, if nothing else just to keep up to date with your email.

No way to do that

there must be some sort of intermediate device

you can, however, get something like this

NO COMPUTER, no way unless you replace the thumb drive with something like these…

About the best thing you can do is to get something like a Digital Foci Photo Safe or PicPac II. Thes are essentially a box with a hard drive in it that can accept a SD card. It's designed to dump photos onto while on travel, etc. Not sure if you can download them to a thumb drive or not.

I go on cruises, and I take a Netbook with me. Yes, it's a computer, but it is small at 10.5", and not really a problem for transport.

When I'm on a cruise, I copy my photos to my netbook, but I carry enough SD cards so that I don't have to erase them during the trip. That way, I have a minimum of two copies of each photo.
