Do Lytro cameras take quality photos?

The Lytro Camera seems pretty cool with the refocusing feature so you don't have to worry about focusing when you're taking shots. But are they basing all of their sales off this one feature, or does the camera take quality, high resolution photos?

For a hundred dollars more is the D3000, how does the Lytro's picture quality compare with the D3000? Http://www.nikonusa.com/Nikon-Products/Product/Digital-SLR-Cameras/25462/D3000.html#tab-ProductDetail-ProductTabs-RatingsReviews

Lytro is a brand that is not very popular for a reason- they are notorious to having alot of problems. If i were you, I'd settle for a solid brand like Nikon or Canon, and the D3000 or more recent 3100 will be your best bet.

The last time Lytro was mentioned on here was somebody who'd bought one, and asked six questions about it in ten minutes, largely trying to get the thing to work.

Only an idiot would touch it.

The Lytro is not even close to the quality of the cheapest DSLR you can find. The refocusing is kinda useless since the depth of field is huge due to the small sensor and you barely see the change when you refocus. It's only visible when something is very close to the camera… But then it just becomes a toy.
The photo quality can be compared to that of an older cellphone. The size is roughly 1.2 MP.

I'm not against the new technology, but right now it's at a stage where it's totally useless for serious photography. It's ok if you want a little toy to play around with. Get a D3000 and some decent lenses like a 50mm f/1.8 and you'll be able to create amazing photos.

DigitalRev just made a fun review here:

You can see sample images in the video. The quality is very low.
