Cool camera lenses/effect lenses?

I just recently bought a Nikon D3000 and I'm not at all an experienced photographer. I do a little bit of band photography and I like to take pictures of nature and such but I'm looking for some inexpensive lenses. Any ideas? Brands, sites, types of lenses etc are appreciated.

Confused - are you after lenses for cool effects or something inexpensive? What lenses do you have now? How much is "inexpensive"?

If I had to take a blind shot, I'd suggest a 50mm f/1.8 lens. It's the least expensive lens in the line-up, it's very sharp and is great in low light or for portraits.

Well first off, what lens do you already have?

I would suggest you get the standard 18-55mm kit lens to start out with, and maybe a 50mm f/1.8 also.

For brands, I would just stick with Nikon lens.

"inexpensive lenses"
Here are them from Nikon Store in order:
18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G ED $119.95
50mm f/1.8D $134.95
70-300mm f/4-5.6G $172.95
35mm f/1.8G $199.95
18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR $199.95
55-200mm f/4-5.6G ED $199.95

If cost is an issue, you may want to look at Sigma brand lenses, which are generally cheaper than Nikon. Sigmas will fit any modern Nikon DSLR and generally speaking, are "almost" as good as Nikon.

Look for other brands like Sigma like the previous post suggested. These lenses will rival some cheaper Nikon lenses and may give you better options for the same price of a cheap Nikon lens.
