Compatibility of Nikon's F50 to newer lenses?

I need to know if nikon's d3100 kit lens (AF-S DX 18-55 mm) is compatible with the F50. And if so, what functions wouldn't be available?

Your 18-55 would vignette at shorter focal-lengths (18-35mm or so). That lens probably not autofocus with that camera. It will meter with your F50. ''

You'll want an FX lens for the F50.

The 18-55mm DX is a G lens with no mechanical aperture ring. It will probably stop down all the way to f22 at 18mm and f36 at 55mm.

If you are trying to use a Nikon F50 and have no lens for it, the best thing to buy would be a 50mm f1.8 D (not the AF-S).In the US It's about $125.
