So… I'm basically choosing between a TAMRON AF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 Di LD Macro Nikon… Or a 50 mm 1,8 nikkor (don't know if the new or old version) … I mean the Tamron provides a high range which can be beneficial in lots of situations but I also know that the 50mm has a better image quality… Any suggestions which should I choose or maybe some other lens? Currently I only have the kit lens… DSLR is Nikon D3200.

In case you don't know, the Tamron lens isn't a "true" macro lens. I think you should go with the "nifty fifty." Hope this helps.

Ok and is it worth to invest into the new version of the 50mm? G is the new one I think and the letter D is used for the old one…

These are completely different lenses designed to accomplish different things under different lighting conditions. If you need a lens that allows in a lot of light for low-light, hand-held photos, then go with the 50mm f/1.8. If you need a lens to produce that extremely out of focus background look, then get the 50mm f/1.8. If you need a portrait to telephoto in one, then go with the 70-300. Basing your buying decision between these completely different lenses upon which is sharper will potentially lead you to buy something that doesn't meet your needs. It's like buying the Porsche 911 because it's super fast and handles best, but what you really need is a pickup truck.

I bought that Tamron lens some years ago. I tried it for a few times and have set it aside as a poor purchase. I also bought the Nikkor 50mm f/1.8 and use it when I want low light performance. It is superb.

You are choosing between two vastly different lenses.

The 70-300mm is a long telephoto that is good for shooting subjects just beyond your reach to really far. This lens in particular is great for daytime outdoor sports so you can get closer to the action.

The 50mm is a short telephoto lens when attached to a crop sensor body. It can be most useful when doing head shots and portraits in general. The low f/number will help you blur backgrounds very easily. It will also allow you to shoot in lower lighting conditions.

You choose a lens first by purpose and then by cost. You just don't buy a lens just because…
