Charger for Nikon D3100?

I recently lost the charger to my Nikon D3100 camera. The original charger was, as I'm aware, an MH-24 charger. These cost around £30-40 when looking to replate. However, the battery itself is an EN-EL14 lithium-ion battery and chargers simply under that search (so EN-EL14 charger) come to about £12-20. Basically, I'm curious as to why there's this price difference. Is the MH-24 charger specifically for my camera model and it's battery and more updated or will an EN-EL14 charger do the trick?

Generic charges can't "talk" with your battery. It is very important that the battery does NOT overheat or overcharge. NO generic charger can do that

Those two conditions can 1) reduce the life of the battery, 2) possibly cause a fire and 3) in a worse case, explode.

Just spend the £30-40 and think of it as insurance. Read the user manual that discusses charging your battery
