Canon EF lens on Nikon D5000, is there an adaptor?

I have bought a Nikon D5000 and I really want a Canon Telephoto lens 300 mm F/4.0 Canon EF because I can't find a cheap enough Nikon one…
Is there a lens adaptor for this?
Otherwise do you know of any equivelent nikon lenses?

Nikon also has a 300mm f/4 that sells for less than the Canon version on B and H's website: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/...300mm.html

It doesn't have VR though, but has an AFS motor which enables autofocus with the D5000. If you choose to go with an adapter, you'll lose both autofocus and OS/VR with it.

No, mounting canon on nikon is not a good idea, you run into all sorts of focus problems that way.

Will not work: Canon has a different back focus register from Nikon, and so you would need to introduce extra optical elements in the converter to allow infinity focus, such elements are usually cheap and nasty.

You would lose autofocus as the lens can't communicate with the body and on a similar note, would only be able to shoot at f4 as there's no way to manually stop down the aperture on a canon lens without a canon body.

The price difference between the Nikon 300 f4 and the Canon 300 f4 is so small that it is not worth using an adaptor.
