Canon 1100d has auto-focus in video mode?
Like nikon d3100.
What does Canon say? Call them if you are concerned about it
I just looked on the Canon website and there's NO mention of auto-focus when in the video mode
No, none of the Canon DSLR series have auto focus in video, just manual focus.
The camera has live view AF, and face detection AF, which also works in video mode, albeit very slowely.
For video you really need to focus manually, as AF hunts which is difficult to watch.
It's compounded by the large sensor which makes depth of field very shallow.
Canon 1100D does not have auto focus in Video Mode.
