Nikon SLR Cameras

Can my Nikon lens, be used for other Nikon cameras?

I have a Nikon D3100 DSLR and am looking into a Nikon F3. They are pretty expensive and I can only find "body only" ones. So instead of spending the money for another lens for that, I was wondering if my d3100 lens would fit and work… 18-55mm Nikko VR.

No, it will not. IT's a DX lens, made for the smaller image circle of the cheaper digital bodies. On the F3 it will give a black circle around the image and you couldn't control the aperture.

A nikon 50mm, manual focus Ai, Ai-s or E-series can be had cheap enough and will work fine.

The great thing about Nikon, is that there mounts haven't changed for decades. The only problem you might run into with using older technology Nikon lenses, or prime lenses, is the auto focus capability, or image stabilization if the body is equipped for that. You may also try Simgma lenses, and look into lense adapters for lenses you like, but may not fit.

If you can find a good F4, buy it. It is the 35 mm SLR that can use the most Nikkor lenses, new and legacy.

The Nikon F3 is a 35mm film SLR camera, not a DSLR but I'm sure you're smart enough to know that. Unfortunately though, any DX lens will not work with the F3.
