Can I use a Sigma 70-300mm F4-5.6 DL Macro Super Lens with a Nikon D5000 SLR camera?
Got a lady that just gave me a nikon n80, with two very nice sigma lenses. I want to sell the camera and smaller lens, but want to keep the larger, because it's also a macro lens. But unless it works with my D5000 SLR Nikon camera, I won't be keeping it. I've tried searching a couple sites online, but haven't found whether or not it works with my D5000. Does anyone know?
Have you tried it?
Certainly it will fit your D5000, but whether it will auto-focus is the question. You can simply attach it to your camera and try shooting a few shots.
Your D5000 requires lenses that have auto-focus motors in them. If the Sigma lens has that feature it will work, otherwise you will have to manually focus the lens using the electronic rangefinder in the cameras viewfinder - page 156 of your user manual
I know those sigmas. The lens will work but not autofocus. Don't expect too much from the "macro"
