Can I use a Non-AI lens on my Nikon D90?
Just purchased a Nikon 28mm f/3.5 Nikkor-H (F-Type) non-ai prime lens. Now I'm reading post saying non-ai lenses will damage my nikon d90 camera is that true if so how?
No - do NOT use it on your D90. The pre-AI lenses had a deeper lens mount & the mirror could hit it when it flips up & get damaged.
The only modern DSLR's that Nikon makes that CAN take pre-AI lenses are D40, D40x, D60, D3000, D3100, D3200, D5000, D5100, D5200.
See this useful table by THom Hogan;

It is possbile to have a pre-AI lens converted (modified), even then although it may fit, it probably won't meter.
According to http://www.kenrockwell.com/...y-lens.htm it won't mount on a D90.
