Can I take a photo in Nikon D90 without a memory card?
I bought a Nikon D90 + VR Kit from amazon, without a memory Card.
- Is it possible to take a picture without a memory card in D90?
- Is Memory card specific for each model of camera? That is, is it possible to use same memory card in canon DSLR and Nikon DSLR?
It is possible to take test shots, but your camera won't save those pictures.
The D90 takes SD or SDHC memory cards.SD cards are all universal, but there are different speed to different kinds of memory cards. I would advice you to buy the Class 6 and above cards for faster writing speeds.
Yes, but you won't save anything without a memory card.
All you need is a memory card that will fit your needs (4GB, 8GB, 16GB, etc.)
Yes, it is possible to take pictures without a memory card. It has enough internal memory for a few pix and you can transfer them to your computer or copy them to a memory card when you get one.
No, the SD memory card is used in most cameras. Yes, you can use the same memory card, the SD and SDHC in most DSLR's, Sony may be the only exception and they are coming around.
Page 242 of your manual tells you what memory cards are recommended. Most cards will work just fine, for instance I have had a Dane-Elec 8 GB in my D90 for over two years with no problem. If you are going to use the video capability of the camera, you will want at least a Class 4, maybe a Class 6 memory card.

I don't think your camera has any internal memory. You need a card. Buy a card and use it in that camera only. Each camera should have it's own card.
- This memory card can't be used. Card may be damaged. Use another card?
