Can I set up a Nikon D7000 to automatically make SD card folders every day?
I'm going on a 3-week vacation. I would like the pictures that I take to be stored in a dated folder.
I had a Panasonic that did this a few years back (I think?)
I realise it's stored in the EXIF files…
Any suggestions?
No. The EXIF file also includes the date taken so just sort them out when you get home.
Yes you can. I don't have a D7000 (excellent camera), but a little research came up with this gem. First, you create several folders on your formatted SD card. Then, each day, you decide which folder will receive that day's shots. I did something similar with my D70 several years ago when I was touring China. I had a different folder for each city we visited.

Hope this helps.
It depends on how the camera was programmed to save files. Nothing you can change there. Pentax does it by default. Nikon doesn't. Nothing you can change there.
You're photo software can do that for you. Example: Lightroom automatically organizes every photo you take by date.
On a Nikon DSLR, you can create a custom folder name. Just create one for the entire trip - or create a new folder each day (which would be a manual process).
Or even better - use a new SD card each day, week, etc. And label that for the particular day.
- Why does my SD Sony card makes too many folders for saving photos from my camera?
- Nikon Lenses for Outdoor sport or day-day photographs?
- I'm wanting a camera for a-levels and just every day social networking sites which one?
