Camera Lens Compatibility & Camera

AF-S DX NIKKOR 35mm f/1.8G.
Is is compatible on both Nikon D3000 & D5100.
Also, what camera should i get, for a recording camera with a good photography.
Also, what should i keep with myself when i travel to a rural country for photography like India.
Ideas for taking pictures at home, my area is rather dull. Any ideas!

AF-S DX NIKKOR 35mm f/1.8G is compatible with all nikon cameras. Only on the D700 and D3 you have a challenge.

Travelling to rural india. I'd go for a D3100 with 18-105 or 16-85 and keep a 35mm in my pocket.

I have a Nikon D3100 and 35mm 1.8G is the only lens I have. It's amazing. It is fully compatible and a must have for all nikon DX cameras. It gives the same view angle as the 50mm gives in FX cameras, which is normal. Yet, on a trip, it is convenient to have a lens that has zooming + more wide angle and more telephoto can be an advantage.

but for me, this is the only thing i need.
