Camera help, please! Digital SLR photographers preferable

Hiya! I have a nikon d5100 SLR camera… I've been using it ever since as long as i could remember, and its done a great job at taking pics and stuff. So the problem… I recently left my camera in its bag, and decided to take it out and take a few pics. The screen said, "Error! Press shutter release button again." I'vs been doing that, but it appears to be that the mirror isn't flipping properly. It's like… Stuck. Can somebody explain to me how this happened and how to fix it, please?

Considering that the d5100 isn't a year old yet, your "been using it ever since as long as i could remember" means you must have a very short memory…

more than likely the camera is still under warranty, send it back to Nikon to get fixed…

try reset, try pressing shutter a few times only,
remove lens and check inside
