Bokeh on a Nikon d3000?

I'm trying to decide which Nikon DSLR I should buy, and I'm thinking about getting the d3000. I'm a beginner and new to both Nikon and DSLRs. I was wondering, does Nikon d3000 do good bokeh? I'd like to be able to do that. Will the manual tell me how to do bokeh or will I have to fend for myself on that? Also, does Nikon d3000 take video? I'm hoping it does.

The lenses cause bokeh, not the camera. Go to your local library and check out the photography section before buying a $400 camera… The D3000 doesn't record video.

The camera body has no effect on Bokeh. It is only a function of the lens. If you buy the kit lens with any camera you will not get great Bokeh as the lens will be slow and badly corrected. Spend the money and get an f/2.8 or faster lens. Although they are not all great in this regard they are almost always better than f/5.6 kit lenses.

Bokeh is dependent on the lens you choose, not the camera

the D3000 does not do video

if you can get the D3100 instead, it is by far, the superior camera.

Lens and technique will make a good bokeh. Buy the D3000 and a fast lens. The AF-S 50MM F1.8 lens will make a nice bokeh and is affordable.

Bokeh has NOTHING to do with the camera you are using.

Doc is right, the D3100 is what you need to shoot video.

The out of focus area behind the subject is the results a things other than the camera you are using

* you need to be shooting with the lens aperture wide open
* you nee to have the subject close to the camera
* the lens you choose will have more or less attractive:"bokeh

No it does not do video.

And to get shallow depth-of-field, which is a requirement for bokeh - either good or bad - is a function of the lens. And good or bad bokeh is also a function of the lens.

The D3000 is a good DSLR, but bokeh strictly depends on the lens you are using, its aperture value and the distance from you to your subject.

The D3000 does not record videos, D3100 does.
