PETER

I have a Nikon D3100

i want a good low light lens (as in when i zoom in all the way) lens.preferably a 55-200mm
with VR/AF and Manuel Focus (if possible)

i want to shoot, baseball, soccer, football and soccer games.

All the games will have enough light ( sun, artificial light)

I prefer A nikon lens, but Canon will do

i have around 200 or so dollars

It's all very well saying that they will have enough light, that is not guaranteed though. Ever heard of a gloomy, overcast day?

For what you want to shoot, and get good quality images, unless you are very close to the action, 200mm is not enough. Neither is $200.

Manual focus is good in a lot of situations, but not ideal in sports when you need to be fast.

Why are you even considering a Canon lens when you own a Nikon? If you really want to see a "good low light lens" that is ideal for sports, then this is what is available in Canon's range (I'm unfamiliar with Nikons range, there will be a similar lens.)

I'm sure if you look hard enough you will find one of these lenses for under $200… )

Depends what you are shooting and in what conditions… And where you are in the crowd…

and you won't get a decent lens for $200…

you might need a 150-500mm or just a 300mm

if it is something kids games and not professional, then a 200mm might be good enough…

you might need a fast lens with f/2.8 aperture…
