Best Sports Photography Lens? - 1
I have a nikon 5100
what's a good sports lens for indoor soccer ( plenty of artificial light) and indoor basketball? ( a lot of light)
and of course it can take family photos and portraits well too
i got 600 to spend
Outdoor lens when shooting at night? 300 mm f/2.8 ($5, 900)
Sample from an American Football game.
Indoor basket ball? 24-70 mm f/2.8 ($! 990) for shooting from the baseline and 300 mm f.2.8 cross court.
Samples:
24-70 mm f/2.8
300 mm f/2.8
As you can see, your budget is a little low. A lot of light is relative.
If you use a lens like the 24-85 mm f/2.8~4 ($745) you will be shooting at one stop slower and there may be some subject movement.
If you use something like the 70-300 mm zoom ($590), your aperture at 300 mm is f/5.6, two stops slower than the f/2.8 lens, but almost within your budget.
I see what you're after but there really is no "best"… There's only your skill at operating a lens and its camera.
You see, almost any all around lens will work. Some have more aperture and they gather more light.
What you call "plenty of light" really isn't, not for a camera. You're going to want something with a
"fast" aperture. If you don't know what that is there's plenty of articles on the web. You can do your own research.

I was a little hesitant to purchase these filters with the lack of reviews but I'm So glad I did. The filters came two days after I placed the order (kudos to the seller) and I was able to start taking pictures with them right away. The carrying case is a plus as it's nice to have a safe, non-destructive place to store the filters. I just started taking pictures with a DSLR but noticed a difference in the photographs right away. I would recommend these for ANYONE starting out as it's a quick and affordable way to increase tone and light quality in photographs.
