Are dead pixels a big deal?
I ordered a Nikon D60 off of eBay (used) recently, and the owner said it had 3 dead pixels. I've looked into them but I still don't know much. It seems to me that whenever you size down a picture, from 4000 pixels to around 1200 that they should disappear. Is this true, or are they something to worry about?
Added (1). As to the pixels being on the screen, that won't bother me. I was just worried that IF they were on the sensor, what they might do to the picture.
Added (2). *Ordered yesterday, still has another week to get here
You are correct that resizing the picture will pretty much eliminate the appearance of the dead pixel (pedantically, the colour value of the dead pixel will have a tiny affect on the other pixels as it is resized - but nothing to worry about), however, are you sure that is what the seller meant?
I would interpret "dead pixel" to mean the pixels on the screen, not the receptors on the sensor.
Have you uploaded any photos? Simple to see there if the pixel problem is in the sensor or the screen.
Hm… Depends on where they are and how bad. On a resize pic they will be so small that most likely they will not show. Anyway, they're easily removedi n photoshop and can be removed automatically in capture nx. Nikon can also fix this, it's free in the warranty period, not sure if they will do it on an old second hand camera.
