I'm using a Canon EOS 450D, n now i want to upgrade to a NIKON. I wanted to get Nikon 90D but 3 of my house mates already have it, so I was thinking of somthing that is close to 90D but maybe it would have abit more advantages and in the same price range.
what would you people suggest?

I'm not really good at shopping for DSLRs.

The new D7000 is the replacement for the old D90 and is a huge upgrade. Your housemates will be jealous

The D7000 is your choice - superb low light capabilities and the replacement (& upgrade) for the D90.

I'm going to stick to giving the well established advice that one should get the cheapest camera that "does the job" and save the rest for the lenses.

The D7000 is an awesome camera, no doubt about that. But do you really *need* it? If you want to best your friends in terms of camera specs (as opposed to the much more important lens specs), get it. If you're into action and sports photography, get it - its AF system will be a blessing to you for these purposes. "A bit more advantages" otherwise is terribly vague - frankly, if you don't know what you want, then you shouldn't be getting anything bigger than a lower prosumer level camera. Anything else is a recipe for wasting lots of money.

For all other purposes it'd stick to a D90.It's currently available at excellent prices, and you'll be better off with those saved $400 later spent on fine glass than to have to use the kit lens.

Keep in mind that Nikon is pretty much the most expensive camera system to start. Nearly all other brands offer better price/performance ratios. Especially Pentax.
