Any thoughts on a Nikon D3000?

I found a used Nikon D3000 within my price range. It's rated "like new." I'm a poor college student, so it's really either that or a point and shoot. Is the D3000 worth it, or since it's at the low end, would a really good point and shoot be better?

Although the D3000 is a low-end DSLR, it is still far above the typical point & shoot.

My son used to have a D3000, and it took some pretty good photos. He learned a lot about photography with that camera.

The D3000 is an excellent camera to use to learn the fundamentals of photography

Here is why the D3000 is superior to ANY point and shoot cameras

The D3000, D3100 and D3200 have the same size sensor if you were in doubt

There are advantages to newer models, but the D3000 is still pretty good. If newer DSLR's are beyond the reach of your money supply, and you get a good price on a sample in great condition, it can be a better buy than a new compact digital camera.

Do you know why it's still new? It's like this. If Nikon could turn back time, they would have undone the D3000's production. It is the most pitiful dSLR model to come out of any brand. Avoid like the plague.
