I know Nikon D5100 has no built in auto focus motor. If I use this lens 'll auto focus option enabled in taking image? Can I know the better qualities of this camera over Canon D550?

It will autofocus on your camera. To compare different camera models go to http://www.dpreview.com/...review.com.

AF means autofocus. S means Silent Wave Motor, which is a lens mounted motor that will work on cameras without an in-body focusing motor.

The two cameras are very comparable. The best thing to do would be to go to a store and try each one out yourself.

All AF-S lenses will auto-focus on your D5100.

The AF-S lenses are extremely high speed auto-focus lenses and over time, All Nikon AF lenses will be AF-S lenses… At present there are over 30 of them.

What is NOT mentioned by Canon users is that NO EF-S lenses can be used on any of the Canon full frame 1D or 5D camera bodies nor on any of the 35 mm EOS Canon bodies

You can compare the specifications of the D5100 and 550D by visiting the Nikon and Canon websites.

What you may find interesting is how well the sensors of each camera performs.

As you can see, the D5100 has much better dynamic range and performs much better in low light at high ISO's than the Canon
