DSLR camera & older lenses?
I inherited some 35mm cameras (Canon & Nikon) & lenses, would those same lenses work on newer DSLR camera & how would I know. They are at least 10yrs or older.
The Nikon lenses can be used on any Nikon DSLR
here is a complete compatibility chart:

for Canon, however, you need to identify if it is an EOS system camera, or an FD system camera
if it is an EOS system camera, they can be used on any canon DSLR.
if they are FD, you can't use them
Many older 35mm lenses can be used on Digital SLR s with adapters. But they don't have auto focus and the aperture usually can't be controlled by the camera. But you can save a lot of money using them.
The doctor is correct.
I have a Nikon D300 and D3 which can use any Nikkor lens AI (manual focus) or any AF, AF-I or AF-S lenses… I have some older Nikkor lenses that have been converted to AI and they work as well.
