Do I need a memory card for a Nikon D3300?
Do I need a memory card for a Nikon D3300?
The D3300 has no internal storage, so you have to get a memory card. It takes SD, SDHC, and SDXC memory cards. You can get them online or at any place that sells cameras. You will have to make three decisions: what brand (such as SanDisk), how big (how much memory such as 8GB), and how fast (rated by Class, such as a Class 6). If you don't do video, a 4GB or 8GB, Class 4 will do. If you do video, you might want a 16GB, Class 10 (also known as UHS-1). Don't get the cheapest, generic card. Get a SanDisk, Transcend, Kingston or Fujifilm.
Yes.
Unless you don't care to look at your pictures ever again.
Only if you want to take photos.
Yes. You need an SD, SDHC, or SDXC card to store images.
The manufacturer does not provide this, leaving it to the buyer to decide how big, fast, or what brand to buy. For stills a standard SD card is generally plenty. Faster, higher capacity card are more useful when shooting video.
Micro SD, Micro SDHC, or Micro SDXc with adapter is not recommended.
Files on the card should be copied to a computer and backed up to other media like DVD-R. You should not rely on the card in your camera to be the one and only copy of your lifetime photo album.
