Convert NEF to jpg in Lightroom 4?
Convert NEF to jpg in Lightroom 4?
I grabbed my husbands Nikon by mistake instead of my own. He has his set to NEF. I ended up getting some great shots, but I need to convert them to jpg. We just bought LR4 so I'm not exactly sure how to convert them. Any suggestions or advice?
Actually you never "convert" a RAW file to any other file type.
What you need to do is copy all your images to a new file folder named for the subject and date.
Using LR4, open all the the RAW files. Using the tools in Lightroom, add any key words, copyright notice, your contact information, any lens correction and custom white balance
Once you have processed the RAW files, export them as any type file you want to a subdirectory under the one you made.
Your choices are JPEG, TIFF, PSD and DNG. In your case you will pick JPEG.
EDIT: You are not converting the RAW (NEF) files. The RAW filse are left alone and can later be processed again if you like. There's a "sidecare" file generated that keeps track of any changes you made when you first processed the RAW files
