Confused between pentax k500 and Nikon D5200?
I'm basically looking at a cam for wildlife photography… Il get a k500 with 18-55+50-200 lens in cheaper rate than d5200 with 18-55 lens only. My confusion and concerns are as follows:
Though video is not of primary importance to me… I can deal with absence of 60fps but absence of stereo sound recording hurts me a bit in case of pentax.
megapixels aside… Another thing is that focus points can't bbe seen in the pentax's viewfinder… Now I hhavent got my hands on one… So Is it that we can't see focus points at all or can we see atleast the area focused with green dots after pressing half the shutter key. I would like to know that.
another couple of things I'm concerned with pentax is absence of IR sensor on the screen side of the camera… And lack of swivel screen… But pentaprism and in body SR compensates for that in my book… So fellas. What shud i do?
Okay. First of all If i was in your position I would definitely go for a Nikon and also if you got to do Wildlife Photography you need way more than just 18-55 lens. Whenever doing wildlife, You can't expect animals or whatever to just reach near to your foot to get themselves clicked. You definitely need a way more zoom lens.
Also, Focus point are just some kind off boxes which you can see in the viewfinder, tbh they do help alot to practice the rule of thirds. So all in all, I suggest a NIKON with a Bigger zoom lens.

Wildlife photography requires long lenses.
I have friends who are "birders" and they use a 70-300 mm lens attached to Nikon cameras as old as the Nikon D90 with excellent results.
The sensor on the D5200 with its articulated LCD may be the best choice

What this means is that both the Pentax and Nikon cameras can certainly shoot in lower lighting when most wildlife is most active (dawn and dusk).
You really need to explore the camera websites to see what long lenses are available for both Nikon and Pentax.
