Compact interchangeable lens cameras, which one to get?
I want to buy a compact lens camera, good detail within shots etc. But don't want it to cost an absouloute bomb! I've looked at the 1 series by nikon, but they just don't seem to have good enough detail within the photos. The leica M series has the quality, just to expensive. Obviously you get what you pay for but what's the best bang for buck on the market at the moment? It can be as basic as anything, just with a lcd display.
I would go for the Sony NEX camera's; NEX-5 more specifically. The Sony NEX has a APS-C size sensor in it(Same size as entry level dslrs). It also has a good collection of NEX mount lens, and as an added bonus Carl Zeiss makes lenses for the Sony NEX.
Considering the Leica M series digital camera to be a compact camera is quite funny actually.
The Leica M is nothing like a compact digital camera, but I think if you just take the time to look at the specifications of the Leica and any compact digital camera, you will see the differences.
Right now the I think what you are calling "compact digital camera with interchangeable lenses" are actually called EVIL cameras, Electronic viewfinder, interchangeable lens cameras. They have much larger sensors than a compact digital camera and cost much, much more. The interchangeable lenses are also of higher quality than the ones found on compact digital cameras
Look at the micro 4/3rds cameras made by Panasonic and Olympus or the Nikon 1 series.
You are really going to have to actually visit a proper photo shop to see the differences and I suggest you do that before you spend a dime
