Cheap vintage SLR camera? - 1
I'm looking for at least one more vintage SLR that is reliable and built to last. It has to be completely manual without any electronics besides battery for the light meter if it has one. I'm looking to buy from eBay. My budget is rather tight about £25 maximum. What are your recommendations?
Currently, I have a Zenit TTL, Praktica MTL3 and a Nikon F50. I would preferably want a camera of a different brand than these ones.
The old Pentax or Honeywell/Pentax cameras are good, reliable units and usually had a pretty fast, high quality lens. I have a couple of Honeywell/Pentax SP500 (Honeywell distributed them in the US at that time) that are good old cameras from the early 70's (I think). Even though the shutter speed dial only goes to 1/500th, it actually goes up one more notch to 1/1000th. They left the 1000 number off the dial in order to sell it as an "economy" model. They are manual with a light meter, reasonably lightweight, quiet in operation and use screw mount lenses.
If you comb garage sales and ebay, you can definitely find a Canon AE-1 program. It's one of the most iconic cameras of all time, so definitely take a look at it.
