Can I use my nikon j1 lenses on the nikon j3?
I'm looking into the nikon j3 and I was wondering if I could use my current j1 lenses on the j3.
Of course - it's not much of an upgrade, though.
The lenses are not camera specific - so you can use them on any Nikon 1 camera.
However, as far as I know, you can't buy a Nikon 1 without at least the 10-30mm lens. I don't think you can buy the camera body only.
Yes, but why buy more than one EVIL camera?
Yes.
They use the same mount system.
The nikon series 1 system lenses will work on any Nikon 1 camera.
one word of warning, the image quality of the J3 is worse than the J1, so don't buy it thinking you are getting something better. If there's some new feature on the J3 over the J1, and you are going for it, at least know that going in.
by going from 10MP to14MP the image quality goes down and it's very noticeable in low light/high ISO. Remember the image sensor size stays the same, so more pixels means smaller pixels.
