Buying a nikon as a starting camera?

I've been wanting a DSLR for abouyt a year, so i decided on getting one. I'm not looking to evolve as a photographer or anything, i just want it as a hobby that i can enjoy. Is the Nikon D30000 a good starter camera? It has a guide mode which seems pretty cool because i have no idea how to work it! It also seems basic enough that i can get the hang of it and be satisfied with it. What do you think?

*also, i've been looking to buy it at bestbuy because its the cheapest there ($450)… Are there any other places that would have it cheaper?

The D3000 is a good camera to start with. In fact, it's good enough for most people that they won't ever need to upgrade. You can probably leave it on automatic and not worry about the other settings unless you get more serious about your photography.

The Nikon D3000 is an excellent entry level camera.

Don't let its price make you think you can't produce professional quality images. As you get better at controlling the camera and learn to compose your shots, you will be amazed at what you can do with it.
