Buying a new camera?
So I'm in the market for a new DSLR camera and I'm really only looking at nikon or canon. The only type of experience I have is with the canon t5. I'm not too worried about learning how to use them as much as I'm about a good quality camera. I feel like I'm more towards nikon and have been looking at the nikon d5500 or 5300. Would love multiple opinions my price range is going to be 600 ish maybe 700 with lens included. I can buy body only and just go with a very good lens also.
Yes the Nikon D5500 is a good choice because it has the same Wi-Fi connectivity as the D5300, but also includes a built-in intervaltimer so you can shoot time lapse video if you get the urge
Be sure you get the camera with the "kit" lens, the 18-55 mm lens. It is THE lens you will use most while learning the fundamentals of photography since it can be used to shoot landscapes, groups, full body and head and shoulder portraits.
Almost All the current Nikkor lenses are very good. The only exception is the economy version of the AF-S 70-300 mm (non-VR) lens, so once you decide on which focal length lens you want to buy second, you have a huge choice of lenses. See link below
If you're only looking at Nikon and Canon, you shouldn't be allowed within 50 feet of a DSLR.
The Pentax K-50 costs less than the Nikon D5500, but uses the same (Sony) sensor, and has the body motor, pentaprism viewfinder, weather-sealing and ability to meter with legacy lenses as the D7100. Of course, only intelligent people have even heard of the oldest SLR manufacturer in Japan.
Just suggesting something out of the box here. A Pentax K-50 will allow you to get three lenses at that budget.

Nikon d5500 is best.
