I'm looking for best semi-pro (not actually too entry level) DSLR cameras under 1000$. I've decided to buy Canon 60D (Apart meny of it's features, I also liked it's articular LCD). But want to know about Nikon. Is there any good one in this range? Good enough, better then 60D?

Check out the D3200.

And check out the DxOMark scoring on the D3200 (notice where the Canon cameras are in the top 10).

Unless you settle for the older D90 (still a very good camera available at attractive prices), Nikon does not offer a 'prosumer' grade camera that suits your budget figure.

The awesome D7000 is available for 999$ - but only without a lens.

Either the Nikon D7000 or the Pentax K5 (same sensor) are both better for dynamic range and low light, low noise photography than any Canon, Canon sensors are old technology and it's beginning to show.

If it's image quality you want especially high ISO, but still low noise images (and who doesn't) the Pentax K5 with a selection of the their really good primes is hard to beat you would have to go full frame to get better image quality.

Both the Nikon D7000 and the Pentax K5 are a tad over your budget, but are definitely worth it.

The 60D IS an entry-level model… Some websites states that it is a semi-pro model, but they're incorrect.

Canon's semi-pro models are the 7D and 5DIII. Previous versions of the 60D (50, 40, 30d,) are semi-pro models; they had a magnesium shell, while the 60D has a plastic one.

Definitely check out for Nikon D3200 the performance is amazing in addition to the 18-55 kit lens being outstanding. I also purchased a Nikon 35mm lens to go with the camera and will review it after working with it. All of the controls on the D3200 seem to be placed with care and are so intuitive to use that I feel like I've had the camera for years. The menu system is also quite intuitive and anyone who has ever used a DSLR before (whether Nikon or not) will find it very easy to work with.
