Best Nikon camera 600$ and below

Well I really want a Nikon camera and I've been looking at the J1 but some of the reviews weren't good. I want something kinda medium sized or small. Around 600$ and below has a built in flash and is good with motion.

Bridge cameras like the P500 / P310 and P510 are all under $500 You maybe able to find a D3100 on sale for $600;.

What type of photography are you doing? I'd said find out what type than google "best Nikon under $600 for ___" I'm in the same boat right now, so I understand that there are lots of choices and it's kinda over whelming!

My friend (she's, like me, 13 but her parents are very into photography) has the Nikon D300 and really likes it. It's a lot of camera and the body alone is about $1400.

The Nikon Coolpix L120 is a little less camera and is about $280:)
