Best film camera to purchase? Canon AE-1 vs Nikon N80?
I just love the look of film photos, I think they're infinitely more beautiful than digital pictures. Still, I really don' know anything about photography and the kinds of cameras there are. What is the best film camera to purchase? A lot of people have told me both the Canon AE-1 and the Nikon N80 are good… Which one would be the best out of these two?
If I were to get a Canon, it would be the A-1.In a Nikon, the F3. Olympus, the OM-1n.
The AE-1 is a dead system. It was replaced by the Canon EOS 35 mm system.
The Nikon N80 is a part of a much more advanced camera system and can use almost all the lenses made by Nikon since 1959.
The Pentax MX.
"Best" is subjective. And there are different types of film cameras (large format, medium format, 35mm format (including point and shoot, SLR, and rangenfinder cameras). So it is impossible to answer what is the "best film camera".
As far as the two choices you mentioned, I believe the N80 is considered vastly superior to the AE-1 (the former being a semi-pro/serious amateur camera, the latter being a basic budget camera).
However, both of them will produce the same results, given the same type of film (and similar quality lens). That's the thing about film cameras. The film. Still, given the two, I would choose the Nikon.
