Battery Life - Nikon J1?

I have had my camera and this battery for about a year and a half. I bought an extra battery by Wasabi Power. However, upon using it after it was fully charged it drained out within 5 minutes. I know that this battery drains out even after not having it plugged in. Is this a common issue? Anyone know what is wrong? Oh and the battery is supposed to last 150 shots.

The Nikon Li-ion battery is supposed to be able to shoot 230 shots on a full charge.
Generic batteries are NOT recommended for many reasons, mostly because they have a tendency to overheat during recharging and thus reduce the batteries ability to hold a charge.
Li-ion batteries are supposed to hold their charge when not in use. Your problem shows a failure of the battery.
NOTE: NEVER let your battery sit fully discharged for any length of time. This is THE number one reason for Li-ion failure, followed by overheating and overcharging.
NOTE2; Nikon chargers will never overheat or overcharge a Nikon battery.

Third party batteries are never as good as the genuine battery. They cost more, but for the best performance - buy a Nikon battery. And they may not be completely charged when using a Nikon charger.
Batteries and chargers are typically designed to work with each other. When you put a 3rd party battery on the charger, it will usually either be an incomplete charge - or worse - an over charge (which can severely damage a battery). You always run this risk when using off-brand batteries.
It is typical for a Lithium-ion battery to self discharge after a few months in storage. Always charge a battery before using it.
